DES, ARIZONA@WORK Offer Employment Resources at Maricopa Veteran Standdown

March 24, 2022

The Maricopa County Veteran Standdown hosted by the Arizona Housing Coalition on March 17 at the State FairGrounds provided a large amount of resources to veterans, from housing and medical support, to employment assistance.

DES and ARIZONA@WORK Maricopa County were two of the vendors present at the Standdown. George Campbell, the veteran’s initiative manager with the Arizona Housing Coalition, was excited to have DES Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) representatives supporting the event.

“The DVOPs bring employment assistance and training tools for our veterans attending the standdown,” he said.

ARIZONA@WORK also provides a lot of support services to veterans. Tina Russo, a program manager with ARIZONA@WORK Maricopa County, was honored by the opportunity to support veterans at the event.

“It’s meaningful to us to be here to support our veterans with workforce services, especially because they are a vulnerable population,” Tina said. “They are a population we focus on, in helping them to improve their lives.”
