Unemployment Insurance Benefits

There are many reasons a job may come to an end. The important thing is to be prepared if it happens. Knowing in advance when and how to apply for unemployment insurance can make the process easier.

The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) can provide individuals who have lost their job through no fault of their own with a weekly stipend of up to $240 for up to 26 weeks, to supplement lost income while they search for employment.

Work Search Activity Requirement

Work search requirements are being reinstated effective May 23, 2021. In March of 2020, in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, Governor Ducey issued Executive Order 2020-11 which waived the requirement to search for work as a condition of eligibility for receiving unemployment benefits. On May 3, 2021, Governor Ducey rescinded Executive Order 2020-11, reinstating the requirement to search for work beginning May, 23, 2021.
