When Patrick R. was looking to add two specialists to his team at Assured Engineering Concepts, he turned to ARIZONA@WORK. “Our company works primarily with the energy industry,” Patrick says. “We had just contracted with a local gas company and we needed to hire a drafting engineer and an AutoCAD operator.”
In talking with the people at ARIZONA@WORK City of Phoenix, Patrick described the specific skill sets he was looking for and learned how he could find candidates who met his requirements, then bring them on board for on-the-job training. “The timing was perfect,” Patrick recalls. “One individual had just finished a training program there, and both fit my criteria. They were ready, I was ready. It worked out great.”
“It’s been a real partnership with the program the whole way,” says Patrick, “from matching up our needs with the right people and developing a training plan, to offsetting some salary expenses as part of the OJT program and following up to see how things are going. Our new employees contribute to our company at the same time that we’re contributing to their training and careers. It’s worked out really well, walking that journey together.”
