Arizona Highway Construction Workforce Program

[email protected] in partnership with Arizona Department of Transportation, Associated General Contractors of America – Arizona Chapter, Federal Highway Administration and others is recruiting for its Arizona Highway Construction Workforce Program.  This is a construction pre-apprentice program that combines training with an opportunity to have a paid, hands-on learning experience in the highway construction industry.

Program requirements are as follows: 

Must have reliable transportations (must have access to a vehicle).

Pass all drug and alcohol testing. Pass background checks.

Be 18 – 24 years of age. Must meet all eligibility requirements under the federal program,

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Ability to lift, bend, squat, and work in all Arizona weather conditions.

Work will include the use of hand tools and small equipment. Be on time, work full time.  

The 10-week program is delivered in two phases:  

Phase 1: Week One Industry Readiness Training – the 1-week program will provide young adult participants with tools and skills needed to prepare for the construction industry, including job site field trips.  

Phase 2: Week Two through Ten will provide youth with a paid, hands-on work experience with a local highway construction contractor.

Youth earn $15/per hour while they are learning for up to nine weeks.

Successful youth are offered the opportunity to join the construction contractor/employer organization in a permanent/full-time capacity upon completion of the program. For more information, please click here.
