Arizona Highway Construction Program

Construction Pre-Apprenticeship combines classroom training with an opportunity to have paid hands-on learning in the construction industry. This 10-week program is delivered in two phases.


Sept. 19, 9:00 a.m. at [email protected] Maricopa County East Valley Career Center, 735 N. Gilbert Rd.

Sept. 27, 1:00 p.m. at [email protected] Maricopa County West Valley Career Center, 1840 N. 95th Ave Suite 160

Oct. 2, 4:00 p.m. at Maryvale Recreation Center and Library, 4420 N. 51st Ave.

Oct. 3, 4:00 p.m. at Burton Barr Library / College Depot, 1221 N. Central Ave.,

Oct. 4, 4:00 p.m. at Hope VI Housing Community, 1150 S. 7th Ave.

• Must have reliable transportation
• Pass drug and alcohol testing
• Pass a basic background check
• Be 18 Years of Age and older
• Must be WIOA Eligible
• Ability to lift, bend, squat, and work in ALL Arizona weather conditions
• Work will include the use of hand tools and small equipment
• Be on time and attend all day

PROGRAM DATES:   Monday October 29 through January 4

Classroom training will be held in Phoenix
**Classes start @7:30 AM M-F ** 
Work experience will be held at various construction worksites throughout Maricopa County.

PHASE 1: Week One Class Training
The 1-week program will provide you with tools to prepare you for the con-struction industry. A detailed list of the days is on page two of this document.

• Construction math
• Health and Safety
• Communication in construction

PHASE 2: Week two through Week Nine will Provide You with Hands-on Work Experience
After completing the 1-week training, you will begin working with a local com-pany that will provide hands-on learn-ing opportunities. During this training, participants will be paid $15.00 per hour.
